Lately we have been hosting more and more Karate birthday parties at the school, and I want to thank everyone that has allowed us to share in their birthday celebrations. We love seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces when they break their boards, and the parents’ faces when they don’t have to worry about any of the cleaning.
We strive to provide a fun, stress-free experience, with a personal touch. One of the challenges that I have had from parents when attending traditional birthday party venues, is the fact that during the child’s birthday party, there are many other activities going on, including other birthday parties. This does not mean that these are not wonderful events; on the contrary, clearly they are very popular for good reason. However, one of the advantages to a Karate Birthday party is that the party is scheduled after classes, and there is only one party going on at a time, allowing our staff to provide the children with the attention they need to enjoy a fun and safe afternoon.
In addition to providing a fun filled afternoon of Karate based games and activities, our staff are dedicated to helping serve our guests their food and drinks in an efficient and cleanly manner.

A new year is upon us once a-gain, and now is a great time to set some goals and really focus on achieving our potential this year. I encourage you all to set or re-evaluate your goals, and to really get excited about what you can accomplish if you really commit to them.
I read a quote the other day that I thought was spot on. It went something like this: no one sets a goal of being out of shape, getting poor grades, and no accomplishing anything; those are things that happen to people who don't have any goals. I think that quote has always been true, but never has it been more true than with today's society.
If I don't have any goals, there are just so many easy things I can do to keep myself entertained so that I don't have to face the fact that I am not really accomplishing anything. Video games, electronics, television, I'm not saying these things are bad, but when we don't set goals, these things can easily sneak in and rob us of our precious time and potential. That's why it is so important to have goals that motivate us to get off the couch and make something of ourselves!
With the new year, you have probably noticed many changes at our school/dojo. Heck, it doesn't even look like the same place anymore! Besides the physical changes to the actual school, I am very excited about some of the improvements to our actual classes. With more instructors, and very experienced ones, I might add, we are better abel to separate our classes by experience level, allowing our students to receive more help on the material that is appropriate for their rank. With adult martial arts classes, this is helpful; with children's martial arts classes, it makes all the difference in the world.
One of my goals for this year is to be able to sponsor more sports teams in the Towson and Lutherville Timonium areas. Last year, we were very fortunate to be able to sponsor a number of little league teams in the Lutherville Timonium Rec and Towson Rec leagues, and we hope to be able to sponsor even more teams this year. The Towson and Timonium communities have been very supportive of our martial arts classes for kids and adults over the past 7 years, and we feel it is very important to give back to the community.

Martial Arts Training for Adults
Why is it so important for adults to engage in some discipline or activity such as the martial arts? Well, think of the biggest challenges most of us face. In this day and age, it is hard to concentrate for any substantial period of time. At times, we lack the patience at motivation to see our goals through and nowadays if something isn’t readily available at our fingertips, we give up.
Exercise is an obvious solution, but what about exercising your mind? Martial arts provide the perfect balance of mind/body awareness, allowing us to connect with ourselves on a deeper level, which leads to a happier and healthier lifestyle.
When I was in college, martial arts reminded me of something I’d forgotten: with hard work, we can achieve our goals.
Success in the martial arts is based upon technique and leverage and unlike so many youth-centric activities, with the martial arts, you can continue to grow and improve at any age!
Thankfully, the need to defend yourself from a physical assault is rare in today’s society. However, the need to defend yourself from succumbing to a sedentary lifestyle is growing by the day. Don’t let age or physical limitations keep you from achieving your fitness goals and improving overall mental health. Our classes are designed to cater to all fitness and experience levels.
